So your starting your own business, and have figured out that you need to understand SEO and then Google will give you lots of new customers, and you can live happily ever after?
When you go looking, you are bombarded with information and promises and something just doesn’t feel right.
Am I getting warm?
The reason being, is that there are many long paths you can take in SEO that will lead you down some very technical and potentially damaging routes.

There are lots of snake oil salesmen out there in this industry, and it is very easy to get drawn to the light that is “Do XYZ tip and get your site on Page 1 for Google“.

There is so much of this out there, that it takes up more of the industry than genuine services do, and this was evident when Google began releasing algorithm updates, and we all saw the Blackhat and even Greyhat SEO’d sites fall through the floor. – The is not the Best SEO for Small Business.

From these three, FREE tools, you can gather all the information you need to plan your content.
Type your Keyword into Google search but do not hit enter.
When Google Auto-Prompts your keywords, it will give you a list of long tail keywords for you to target. (Others will be listed at the bottom of the search results page)
Once you have your list, go to the Keyword Planner.
Look for low competition keywords and begin targeting them with your content.
Monitor your progress with Analytics and Webmaster Tools.
Rinse and repeat.

This is just writing. There is no magical formula here. Yes, there are actually formulas when you want to generate the most perfect piece of content, but generally, if you use the guiding light of adding value, you will always win in the long run.
Makes sense if you think about it.
Longer content always ranks better. Aim for above 1,800 words per article. Use other forms of media throughout your content, video, images etc. Maintain good grammar and keep people engaged and informed and they will stay on your page longer, telling Google that your content is valuable.

This is just a process. Start here. Create a Facebook Page, and every time you write a new blog post, post it to your Facebook page. Then think about where else you might post it.
Do this again and again, until you have a long list of actions to complete every time you publish a blog post. And maintain the process, EVERY time.
Again, keep the value adding principal as your focus. Don’t spam, or be spammy, but distribute and inform. If someone comments, respond. You are dealing with people, and people value genuineness.
